Dayton's Education, Entertainment and Culture
Dayton boasts 26 institutions of higher learning, including medical, law, and engineering schools. The University of Dayton and Sinclair Community College are located in the city and Wright State University is nearby in the city of Fairborn to the North-East. Other colleges in the area include Miami University of Ohio, the University of Cincinnati, Cedarville University, and Antioch College.
Area museums include the Dayton Art Institute, the Dayton International Peace Museum, Boonshaft Museum of Discovery, and the Air Force Museum. Dayton also has a symphony, an opera, live theater, and a ballet company, information about which can be found on the Dayton Performing Arts website. There are also venues for sports, concerts and events, such as the Nutter Center at Wright State University and the Fraze Pavilion.
This part of Ohio is also home to Native American historic sites, Miamisburg Mound, Fort Ancient and Sunwatch Indian Village among them.
The Dayton Air Show, held in July at the Dayton Airport, is one of the largest air shows in the United States with an attendance of over 80,000.
